Pollution?
PhotoStories

1129Industrial countries have factories to produce everyday supplies and goods to the citizens. The problem is that this kind of consume driver society requires lots of energy — and producing energy causes pollution.

Because I'm originated from countryside, a pure environment is a matter of course for me. After moving to an urban area, there were sometimes odor of industrialism on the air. It was so easy to blame the local factories of this smell.

On the other hand, because I needed and used the industry products made in those factories, who was I to judge the existence of those industrial plants?

This is the paradox of the western way of living: many of us are worried about the environmental issues, but few of us are ready to say goodbye to the conveniences we have used to.

The advancing technology is gradually making the situation better, at least in those countries where the money is really invested in reducing the pollution. But think about the huge metropolises in developing countries, having thousands of antiquated polluting factories. Where to get money to modernize them?

When I took this photograph, there were heavy fog coming from the sea, and the morning sun created a nice effect of heavy industrial pollution — in fact this could be considered as a photo manipulation, this time without any digital tricks! However, this kind of polluted views belong to the everyday life somewhere in Earth, unfortunately.
